It wasn’t something the ever-apoplectic Left-wing establishment media wanted to hear because it defies their narrative that only right-wing, white conservatives who support the president are racist bigots.
But Donald J. Trump set the record — the real record — straight last Tuesday during another combative news conference when he said that both the right and Left (the “Alt-Left” in fact, to quote the president) were responsible for the violence at Charlottesville over the weekend, in which one person was killed and several injured, and in which two Virginia state troopers lost their lives when their helicopter crashed.
“I think there is blame on both sides,” said Trump, referring to the white nationalist protesters holding a demonstration in the city and the counter-protesters facing off against them.
“You had a group on one side that was bad and you had a group on the other side that was also very violent and nobody wants to say that but I’ll say it right now,” the president said, as reported by The Wall Street Journal.
“You had a group on the other side that came charging in without a permit. They were very violent,” he added.
One of those ‘other groups’ were members of the Antifa organization. In a recent interview with CNN, one of the group’s organizers, Scott Crow, said that the goal of Antifa protesters is to get violent with conservatives and right-leaning Americans they disagree with.
“There is a place for violence. Is that the world that we want to live in? No. Is it the world we want to inhabit? No. Is it the world we want to create? No. But will we push back? Yes.”
Continuing, he said, “The idea in Antifa is that we go where they (right-wingers) go. That hate speech is not free speech. That if you are endangering people with what you say and the actions that are behind them, then you do not have the right to do that.
“And so we go to cause conflict, to shut them down where they are because we don’t believe that Nazis or fascists of any stripe should have a mouthpiece.”
That proves Trump’s point that the violence in Charlottesville was two-sided, not one-sided.
The media is attempting to portray Trump’s statements Tuesday as a departure from prepared remarks he made on Monday, in which he singled out white supremacist groups like the KKK specifically for being violent.
But the very same media pressured Trump into making that statement, then criticized anyway after doing so. He wasn’t going to win this, anyway you look at it.
That is the same conclusion former House Speaker Newt Gingrich has arrived at after watching the neurotic hypocrite pretenders in the media lambast the president over the weekend and into Monday regardless of what he said — or did not say (quickly enough).
“…[C]learly there was a hunger for him to use the specific phrases about white supremacists and about the KKK and about Nazis. He came back today (Monday afternoon), he said every single thing that his critics on the left want. So now you have crowds that are saying ‘well, he didn’t say it soon enough.’ I just want to suggest to you – there’s an anti-Trump movement in this country that will never, ever be satisfied as long as he’s president,” Gingrich said. Asked Tuesday why he ‘waited’ to condemn neo-Nazis and the KKK, Trump said he “needed the facts” before making any statement.
Then again, he did say something on Saturday about the violence: “We condemn in the strongest possible terms this egregious display of hatred, bigotry, and violence on many sides.”
As for Charlottesville, Trump said: “I’ve condemned neo-Nazis. I’ve condemned many different groups. But not all of those people were neo-Nazis, believe me. Not all of those people were white supremacists, by any stretch. Those people were there because they wanted to protest the taking down of a statue, Robert E. Lee.”
And frankly, they have a right to do so in America. It’s called the First Amendment.
The problem here is that the disgustingly dishonest Left-wing media thinks violence committed by their side is always justified and okay, regardless of the situation.
