(Trump.news), Oh, the nerve of that lout, Donald Trump! How dare he finally turn the tables on the Clintons and do what the old media has so regularly failed to do for decades.
In case you missed it – and if you’re paying any attention at all to the 2016 presidential election, you didn’t – Trump, the GOP’s presumptive nominee, has begun attacking both Bill and Hillary Clinton for the former’s sexcapades of the 1990s, and the latter’s efforts to cover them up and discredit all the women who leveled charges varying from simple sexual abuse to rape against the sitting president.
The Left-wing media is aghast at any mention of these and other Clinton-related scandals – the failed Whitewater investment; the missing Rose Law Firm billing records; Vince Foster’s odd death and the cleaning out of his office before federal investigators, etc. In fact, just a day ago NBC News correspondent labeled Trump’s attacks “another low”:
“It’s only May, but this race is hitting another low: Donald Trump’s latest attack on the Clintons, revisiting decades-old allegations of sexual misconduct against Bill Clinton that Fox News host Bill O’Reilly called tawdry,” Alexander said.
Alexander described how Donald Trump is defending his “relentless” attacks on both Hillary and Bill Clinton, arguing he has to fight back and respond to their actions as “dirty players.”
“The latest attack, seemingly unprovoked, digging up President Clinton’s old sex scandals, including the voice of Monica Lewinsky,” Alexander said.
Well, gosh – shouldn’t the generations of voters who either weren’t alive or old enough to understand what was going on in the 1990s with these two serial abusers of trust and process actually know who they are and what they’ve done? Isn’t their character as important to know as Trump’s? If we are to believe that whatever Trump has done throughout his life leading up to this point is fair game, then isn’t it also fair game to examine the Clintons as well, especially their time in the White House?
Of course it is. But for the all the old media hacks and pundits who are lamenting Trump’s political tactic of bringing all of this back to the fore, they have no one to blame but the presumptive Democratic nominee herself.
Why? Because just last week, Hillary Clinton – as Bill did 20-odd years ago – made her husband a part of her administration by announcing that she would put him in charge of revitalizing the economy (which was a sideways slap at President Obama’s failed, miserable economy).
“My husband, who I’m going to put in charge of revitalizing the economy, cause you know he knows how to do it,” Clinton said at a rally on Sunday, ABC News noted. “And especially in places like coal country and inner cities and other parts of our country that have really been left out.”
Boom. Bill Clinton automatically becomes fair game in this election. I mean, he was anyway, just because of that “co-presidency” thing he dreamed up during his time in office, likely as a way to placate a power-hungry wife who had long known of his extra-marital activities. But when Hillary put Bill squarely in her administration, that puts him squarely in line for scrutiny.
All scrutiny, not just the cherry-picked polite criticism these two are used to getting from the old media.
Like radio talk legend Rush Limbaugh said on his program this week, all Trump is doing is the job the old media should be doing and always should have done, especially back when they were protecting Bubba and the missus in the 90s:
It may not make you happy. It may make you disappointed for the future of our human race and so forth, but it’s not unusual: tabloids. It’s no different than E! Entertainment Television or TMZ or what have you. I mean, they have various locations on the strata, but that kind of gossip, what have you, it’s always gonna have a big audience. And Trump is getting to it, I think, early for a reason. He’s getting it out there. He told everybody he was gonna get it out there, and he’s getting it out there. Nobody else will touch it. Nobody else has wanted to touch this stuff ever, any of it.
Well, the Republican Party hasn’t done it (to Obama either, for that matter), so someone’s got to. And if that ticks off Hillary and her Pretorian Guard media, they have no one to blame but the candidate herself. While her own actions have always been grist for Trump’s political mill, by putting her husband “out there” she makes him a legitimate target as well. It’s not Trump’s fault if the Clintons are a target-rich environment.
