A release on Wednesday provided a few details of the Trump-Pence event scheduled for Thursday afternoon at Carrier’s Indianapolis facility.
“We have negotiated an agreement with the incoming administration that we believe benefits our workers, the state of Indiana and our company,” Carrier said in a statement posted to its website. “We are announcing today that Carrier will continue to manufacture gas furnaces in Indianapolis, in addition to retaining engineering and headquarters staff, preserving more than 1,000 jobs.”
“Today’s announcement is possible because the incoming Trump-Pence administration has emphasized to us its commitment to support the business community and create an improved, more competitive U.S. business climate. The incentives offered by the state were an important consideration,” the Carrier statement went on to say.
The company made a brief announcement of the deal in a Tuesday Twitter post.
On Thanksgiving, ahead of Carrier’s announcement, Trump posted to Twitter that he was working hard to keep the company’s Indiana operation from leaving the United States.
I am working hard, even on Thanksgiving, trying to get Carrier A.C. Company to stay in the U.S. (Indiana). MAKING PROGRESS – Will know soon!

Last February Carrier had announced intention to move their Indiana facility outside the United States and to Mexico. Trump told Breitbart News in an interview shortly thereafter that what he planned to do to keep the company, and others considering leaving, in the U.S.
Longtime Indiana-based Carrier employee Robin Maynard appeared on Fox News Channel’s “Fox & Friends” on Wednesday where he voiced his appreciation for the president-elect forging a deal to the jobs in the U.S.
“I would like to tell him thank you for going out of your way and taking your time away from your family, working on the Carrier and employees’ deal,” said Maynard. “Sticking to your word and going to bat for us all at Carrier and keeping our jobs here. I’d like to thank him and Mike Pence for doing it so quickly.”
Thursday’s event is closed to the public. It is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. ET at Carrier in Indianapolis, Indiana. Both Trump and Pence are scheduled for the event.
