Malls in America have been struggling economically, and big box anchor stores like Sears feel the crunch. As reported by the Chicago Tribune, Sears revenues have dropped consecutively for five years. They need cash, so Sears decided to raise nearly $1 billion by selling Craftsman tools – a 90 year-old jewel in Sears crown. There’s probably not a garage in America that doesn’t have a Craftsman tool on the shelf. Now, the beloved brand will make a new home at Stanley Black & Decker, “a diversified global provider” of everything from hand and power tools to electronic security, “mechanical access solutions, healthcare solutions, engineering fastening systems and more,” according to Stanleyblackanddecker.com.
Fifty years ago, states Usatoday.com, most Craftsman tools were made in America, but for some time, these products have been manufactured overseas. Jim Loree, CEO of Stanley Black & Decker, believes their Craftsman acquisition is a perfect opportunity to “re-Americanize . . . this legendary brand.” Producing Craftsman tools in American, says Loree, makes “good business sense,” and they plan to construct a manufacturing plant to do just that. And while Loree’s discussion with investors didn’t mention a word about Trump’s plans to “Make America Great Again, he “hinted” that his company’s move to bring manufacturing back to America could help “inoculate” Stanley Black & Decker from Trump’s “threatened border tax.”
Stanley Black & Decker’s upper management didn’t receive any personal communication with President-elect Trump, as did Carrier, the air conditioner manufacturer that opted to stay in Indianapolis and not move to Mexico, saving 1000 jobs. Trump also didn’t counsel the Ford Motor Company, who recently cancelled the construction of a $ 1.6 billion manufacturing plant in Mexico, and instead will add 700 jobs in Michigan. It’s clear that Trump’s vision of a stronger America, as reinforced through his tweets, is having a remarkable effect.
Trump is so committed to “Buy America” policies that he is creating a new office in his administration called the “National Trade Council,” as reported by Politico.com. With hopes to give Americans a chance to work “a decent job at a decent wage,” this council will encourage a continued resurgence in American manufacturing and also have a strong say in global trade policy.
Before the election, Health Ranger Mike Adams shared his perspective on the powerful positive economics of a Donald Trump presidency, as well as the ongoing globalist plans to bring America to her knees.
