Kim Yeater, a prominent figure in the border security movement, shared a deeply personal story that challenges the often-polarized narratives surrounding the border crisis. She joined the “Health Ranger Report” to talk about her encounter with one Venezuelan national with the Health Ranger Mike Adams.
The founder and driving force behind Take Our Border Back (TOBB) shared this moment that profoundly shaped her understanding of the human dimensions of this complex issue. Yeater’s home is a sanctuary of faith and family, but one day, it became an unexpected bridge between two worlds. Her daughter, who was part of a local coed soccer team, introduced her to a young man from Venezuela.
“He’s from Venezuela. In my home, is a young man from Venezuela who came over through the Texas border eight months ago,” Yeater shared, her voice tinged with a mix of surprise and introspection.
This young man – who had spent six years on a perilous journey with his father from Colombia to Panama, back to Venezuela and finally to Texas – was not a typical case of illegal immigration. He and his father had made their way through sheer determination and resilience, without the support or exploitation of human traffickers.
“They weren’t paid to be here. They were not given food. They made their own way here,” Yeater emphasized. As a mother and a leader in the border security movement, Yeater found herself at a crossroads.
“I was wrestling with God at this moment,” the podcast host of “Take Your Power Back Show” confided. “Why did you bring this into my home? Why is this happening right now?”
Her initial concerns about the young man’s intentions and background were quickly dispelled by his respectful and honorable demeanor. The encounter forced Yeater to confront the humanity of the individuals caught in the crossfire of political and cultural conflicts. It challenged her beliefs and deepened her understanding of the complex human dimensions of the border crisis.
“God humbled my heart,” she said, acknowledging the personal and spiritual growth that came from this experience.
While Yeater’s personal encounter with the Venezuelan immigrant affirmed her belief in the importance of compassion and humane treatment of those seeking a better life, it also reinforced her commitment to secure borders and legal immigration.
“They need to go back home and be given the opportunity to apply for legal immigration,” Adams commented regarding immigrants who crossed the U.S. border illegally. “If they have merit, then we as a nation should welcome them back.”
“We oppose and denounce lawlessness, violence and criminality. We welcome all children of God to participate in this great nation, but we get to set the rules of who comes in and what’s required for you to come in.”
Yeater’s balanced approach acknowledges the need for a secure border while emphasizing the importance of compassion and the rule of law. She also aligns her personal experiences with a broader policy framework.
The border crisis is not just a political issue; it is a humanitarian one that touches the lives of real people with real stories. Yeater’s personal encounter serves as a poignant reminder that behind every statistic and political argument, there are individuals with hopes, dreams and fears.
Her story encourages a more nuanced and empathetic approach to the immigration debate, one that balances the need for secure borders with compassion and a commitment to legal immigration. As the border crisis continues to unfold, Yeater and her team at TOBB are committed to providing resources and strategies to empower communities to take action.
“We need to get involved in our local communities, go to school boards, board of supervisors, and get involved in the upcoming elections,” she urged. “Together, we can take our nation back and put God back in His rightful place.”
