We aren’t sure what is worse: Democrat attempts to politicize every American misfortune or using a national crisis to pad their political behinds and stoke anger and resentment among their base of voters, but one thing’s clear: The Donkey Party never has the country’s best interests at heart.
That’s the only way to explain calls on Monday by House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) and Senate Minority Leader Charles Schumer (D-N.Y.) for legislation or actions forcing businesses already suffering supply chain issues, productivity shortages and sales losses due to the coronavirus outbreak to pay even more money to their employees.
Only political partisans with no direct business experience would make such a recommendation.
On Monday, these two business ‘geniuses’ called on employers to pay sick leave to any of their workers affected by the virus — money that many companies likely can’t afford, and money that, of course, isn’t going to come out of the pocketbook of Pelosi or the pockets of Schumer.
The Epoch Times reported:
In a joint statement, Pelosi and Schumer provided a list of demands for what should be in an economic package related to the novel coronavirus, including paid sick leave, boosting unemployment insurance, and free testing for COVID-19.
“We are hoping to work with the administration on a coordinated, government-wide plan to respond to the coronavirus,” the two Democratic leaders said in the statement. “However, President Trump continues to manufacture needless chaos within his administration, and it is hampering the government’s response to the coronavirus outbreak.”
The two partisans noted further that they were referring to reports about a possible tax package and “are demanding that the administration prioritize the health and safety of American workers and their families over corporate interests.”
Now mind you, Schumer and Pelosi have rarely worked with President Trump on anything. As a reminder, Pelosi tore up the president’s speech following his State of the Union Address last month.
If that isn’t enough, then by suggesting that companies dig down deeper into their already narrow profit margins, they appear to be making an attempt to bankrupt businesses, some of which are near to running out of supplies thanks to coronavirus-related productivity delays and work slowdowns in China.
Pelosi and Schumer also claimed they are trying to help working parents who may wind up caring for sick children or kids impacted by coronavirus-related school closures including hooking more people on food stamps and other taxpayer-funded freebies. Finally, the pair stumped for protections against price gouging (AG William Barr took care of this Monday), “widespread” COVID-19 testing, and — oddly — ‘more medical capacity’ across the country.
“The administration must move more quickly and seriously to address the severe impacts of the coronavirus on the financial security of America’s families,” they said.
Whatever. The flu has killed nearly 20,000 people this year, hospitalized tens of thousands, and sickened tens of millions; where have these two political grifters been to deal with that?
And another thing: Why is AG Barr feeling compelled to prosecute “bad actors” who “take advantage” of the coronavirus outbreak when we can’t get him to prosecute criminal defrauding of the FISA Court as well as illegal attempts by deep state actors to depose President Trump?
Also Monday, White House officials lambasted Democrats who are using the coronavirus outbreak as a political opportunity to harm the president — while at the same time really only causing harm to the country.
White House spokeswoman Stephanie Grisham noted that it’s time for “politicians and the media to stop using this as a tool to politicize things and to scare people. It’s not responsible. This is not the time for this.”
Truth.
