President Donald Trump is set to announce a measure designating Antifa and the Ku Klux Klan (KKK) as terrorist organizations and make lynching a federal hate crime as part of his efforts to help Black America. He posted on Twitter in June that Antifa will be designated as a terrorist organization, but no formal action has been made on this promise so far.
Antifa is described as an anarcho-communist movement. The group has been involved in chaotic Black Lives Matter riots in cities across the country. Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) Director Christopher Wray told lawmakers that the bureau is conducting serious investigations into some “anarchist violent extremists.” He added that the FBI has evidence of Antifa merging and working together in what he described as small groups and nodes.
Attorney General William Barr described Antifa as “Bolsheviks” who resort to fascistic tactics in a Fox News interview last August.
“They are a revolutionary group that is interested in some form of socialism, communism,” he added.
The attorney general also likened the Black Lives Matter riots that devolve into chaos to “a new form of urban guerilla warfare.
“They go into the demonstrations … exercising First Amendment activity. And what they do is they hijack these demonstrations and … provoke violence.”
Aside from Antifa, the president also designated the KKK — a white supremacist group first established in 1865 — as a terrorist organization. The KKK was responsible for intimidation and violence against free Blacks in the post-Civil War and Reconstruction-era South. (Related: A “Democrat” newspaper just called for the return of a Democrat-created domestic terrorist group; the KKK.)
The last move Trump made against the KKK was back in August 2017, when he denounced it and other right-wing groups following violence at the “Unite the Right” rally in Charlottesville, Virginia. He condemned the death of 32-year-old Heather Heyer and warned that those responsible for her demise “will be held fully accountable.”
“Racism is evil … Those who cause violence in its name are criminals and thugs, including the KKK, neo-Nazis, white supremacists and other hate groups that are repugnant to everything we hold dear as Americans,” Trump said that time.
The terrorist designation for Antifa and KKK is just one part of Trump’s “Platinum Plan” for Black Americans.
Pledges in the Platinum Plan include increased access to capital for Black communities, assistance for new businesses and new jobs for over 3 million people. The plan will also empower churches to compete for federal resources for their communities, bring better and tailored healthcare to address “historic disparities,” and promote homeownership opportunities and financial literacy.
The plan also covers education for Black communities. So-called “failing schools” will be closed down and replaced with “full school choice and education opportunities.” Meanwhile, historically black colleges and universities will continue to be protected.
The plan also intended to make Juneteenth a national holiday. Celebrated on June 19 of every year in the U.S, Juneteenth celebrates the emancipation of slaves in the country.
On the issue of public safety, the president vowed to make Black communities safer. He condemned Democrats for “attacking our police and empowering far-left rioters, looters, and anarchists” instead of fighting for public safety.
The Thirteenth Amendment may have abolished slavery, but the Democratic Party still treats African Americans as slaves. The tune changes come election time, as Democrats pander to Black communities with promises of uplifting them from poverty into a better standard of living.
“For decades, Democrat politicians like Joe Biden have taken black voters for granted. The Democrats will always take black American voters for granted until large numbers … vote Republican,” Trump commented, describing how Democrats “made big promises before every election” but turned their backs on voters after winning.
According to Trump, Democrats have always offered “nothing but the same tired, empty slogans” to black American voters election after election. On the other hand, Trump has provided solutions to the issues African Americans are facing.
“At no time before has there been a clearer choice between two parties, two visions, two philosophies, and two agendas for the future.”
