Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich (R-GA) has received an information that former President Donald Trump’s indictment in Georgia was done at the behest of the federal government.
He shared this information during a recent interview with Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk. Citing a “reliable source,” Gingrich said the charges brought by Fulton County District Attorney (DA) Fani Willis stemmed from a request by the District of Columbia. According to Gingrich’s source, the White House needed a distraction from the “screw-up” involving Special Counsel David Weiss.
“I am told that somebody from Washington called the DA in Atlanta and said, ‘You have to indict. We have to cover up all of the mistakes we just made with Weiss,” Gingrich said. In spite of Willis’ hesitation regarding the move, the federal official – whose identity remains unknown – said “it doesn’t matter.” (Related: GA Trump indictments are desperate effort to destroy Biden’s “most dangerous opponent” – Gingrich.)
Kirk thinks the source of the former Georgia congressman is telling the truth. “I totally believe it though, because that would explain why they leaked [the charges] and they messed up on the clerk document. Why [Willis] was exhausted, and why they had the 11 p.m. press conference,” Kirk said.
The Fulton County DA announced a grand jury’s indictment of Trump and 18 others – including his attorneys Jenna Ellis, Sidney Powell and former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani. The 19 were indicted on multiple charges, including violating the Georgia Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations (RICO) Act; solicitation of oath violation; and various conspiracy and false statement offenses. The charges had been suspiciously leaked online before the grand jury’s decision.
According to PJ Media, the timing of Willis’ indictment “raises the question as to whether Manhattan DA Alvin Bragg’s indictment of Trump was ordered by Washington for similar reasons.” Back in April, Bragg charged Trump with 34 felony counts over hush money payments to adult film actress Stormy Daniels. The former president pleaded not guilty to the charges, the BBC reported.
On the same day as Bragg’s indictment of Trump, Kathy Chung testified before the House Oversight Committee. According to Chung, a former aide to President Joe Biden, the documents kept by the former president were not stored in a secured closet at the University of Pennsylvania‘s Penn Biden Center. Her testimony contradicted the White House’s account of how the incumbent president handled classified documents.
Attorney General Merrick Garland appointed Weiss to continue the government’s years-long investigation of Hunter Biden on tax and gun charges. Incidentally, Weiss was the U.S. attorney involved in offering the presidential son a sweetheart deal of pleas to a couple of misdemeanors and a diversion program to get rid of a long list of felonies.
This sweetheart deal inked by Weiss fell apart after U.S. District Judge Maryellen Noreika shot it down. The federal magistrate appointed by Trump questioned what appeared to be a blanket immunity promise for the younger Biden.
Garland’s appointment of Weiss did not sit well with critics. They pointed out that under the special counsel law, a person appointed to the post must be from outside the government. Weiss’ appointment was questionable as he is working with the Department of Justice as a federal prosecutor.
“Each of Trump’s prior federal indictments immediately followed bad news days for Biden,” PJ Media wrote. “While Gingrich was adamant in pointing out the story is merely hearsay – it not only fits with the circumstances surrounding the indictment but with the past indictments as well.”
One cannot help but wonder if the timing of Trump’s indictments following legal action against the Biden crime family is “coincidental.” The Republican-controlled House of Representatives is investigating the Bidens for what apparently was a years-long influence-peddling operation. It involved tens of millions of dollars being delivered to the family’s shell corporations; a document from the Federal Bureau of Investigation even referenced $5 million bribes to the father-and-son tandem of Joe and Hunter.
