Former Secretary of State and failed Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton said supporters of former President Donald Trump need to be deprogrammed in reeducation camps.
Clinton made this statement during a CNN interview, wherein she compared conservatives who still pledge their support to the former president even after the Jan. 6, 2021 incident at the Capitol to members of a cult. (Related: Hillary Clinton calls for “formal deprogramming” of MAGA “cult members.”)
“Sadly, so many of those extremists, those MAGA extremists, take their marching orders from Donald Trump, who has no credibility left by any measure. He’s only in it for himself,” she said in the interview with CNN’s Christiane Amanpour. “When do they break with him? At some point, maybe there needs to be a formal deprogramming of the cult members. But something needs to happen.”
This is not the first time that Clinton has suggested government intervention against supporters of Trump. On a different occasion, Clinton spoke openly to a cheering crowd about how “We really need camps for adults,” a euphemism for concentration or reeducation camps.
“A ‘formal deprogramming.’ Right out of Mao’s cultural revolution, right out of the struggle sessions,” commented Alex Jones.
According to Clinton, Republicans who are “sane” and have “common sense” are being intimidated by the pro-Trump and MAGA wings of their party. She pointed to the fact that many Republicans recently voted with Democrats to keep the government open and avoid a shutdown as proof that a “common sense” faction within the House Republican caucus exists.
Clinton also talked about how both the Republicans and the Democrats in the past used to be able to cooperate.
“There were very strong partisans in both parties in the past, and we had very bitter battles over all kinds of things – gun control, climate change and the economy and taxes – but there wasn’t this little tail of extremism wagging the dog of the Republican Party as it is today,” she claimed.
Clinton predicted that Trump would once again be the Republican Party’s nominee for president. She urged these “sane” and “common sense” Republicans in the GOP to “defeat him.”
Clinton further claimed that Trump has “no credibility left” and is seeking to use his presidency as a means of defending himself against both the civil and criminal cases lobbied against him, claiming that Trump is “only in it for himself.”
Jones found this ironic, pointing out that Clinton is “of course in it for herself” and “made billions in theft, with her foundation selling off America.”
Clinton’s claims have also been refuted by Trump’s campaign.
“President Trump has said countless times that they are only coming after him because he stands in their way from coming after you – and Hillary Clinton just confirmed that to be true,” said Karoline Leavitt, spokesperson for the Trump-affiliated super PAC, the Make America Great Again Inc.
“Tens of millions of Americans will reject the Democrat Party’s reeducation camp agenda in November 2024 when we make Donald Trump the 47th President of the United States.”
